BENEFITS OF DYNAMIC SCALING TECHNOLOGY:

MEASURE VEHICLE KINEMATICS

BY MOTIONING THE CHASIS TO ACHIEVE ON TRACK WHEEL TRAVEL, THE USER IS ABLE TO ACCURATELY SIMULATE SUSPENSION STATES AND MEASURE SUSPENSION CHARACTERISTICS SUCH AS BUMP STEER, ACKERMAN, REAR STEER, CAMBER, CASTER, WHEEL BASE, WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND MORE.  THESE MEASUREMENTS CAN BE TAKEN THROUGHOUT THE TRAVEL RANGE AND GRAPHED USING THE DSS ANALYSIS SOFTWARE.  MEASUREMENTS ARE FAR MORE ACCURATE THAN TRADITIONAL MEANS (JACKING ONE SUSPENSION SIDE), DUE TO THE SUSPENSION BEING MOTIONED THE WAY IT MOVES ON THE TRACK (CHASSIS COMPRESSING, WHEEL STAYS ON TRACK) AND THE SUSPENSION BEING UNDER FULL LOAD.

MEASURE DYNAMIC WHEEL LOADS

MEASURING CORNER WEIGHTS AND PERCENTAGES ARE A FOUNDATIONAL BASIC FOR CHASSIS SET-UP.  WITH DSS TECHNOLOGY, YOU CAN NOW ACCURATELY MEASURE CORNER WEIGHTS AND PERCENTAGES "ON THE TRACK", ALLOWING THE USER TO IDENTIFY PROBLEMS AND TRACK VEHICLE BALANCE THROUGHOUT THE SUSPENSION TRAVEL RANGE.  WITH BASIC DATA ACQUISITION , YOU CAN SIMULATE AN ENTIRE LAP, TRACKING ALL MEASUREMENTS SIMULTANEOUSLY. DYANMIC WHEEL LOAD DATA IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR ACCURATELY TESTING AND SETTING UP BUMP STOPS AND COIL BIND. GRAPHING WHEEL LOADS ALLOW THE USER TO PICK UP SUSPENSION BIND SUCH AS SWAY BARS, SPRINGS OR BALL JOINTS.

TEST SET-UP IDEAS

ONCE WHEEL LOAD BASELINES ARE ESTABLISHED FOR A GIVEN TRACK , THE USER CAN ACCURATELY PREDICT SUSPENSION TRAVEL WITH ANY SET-UP COMBINATION.  THIS ALLOWS THE USER TO ELIMINATE WASTED TRACK TIME DUE TO THE CHASSIS BOTTOMING OUT OR SUSPENSION BINDING.  SUSPENSION COMPONENT CHANGES CAN BE TESTED IN THE SHOP, WITH ACCURATE OUTCOME PREDICTIONS.  EXAMPLES:  MAKE A SPINDLE CHANGE AND SEE THE CAMBER CHANGE, CASTER CHANGE, BUMP CHANGE AND WHEEL LOAD VARIATION THROUGHOUT THE TRAVEL RANGE.  MAKE A SPRING CHANGE AND SEE WHAT OFFSETTING ADJUSTMENTS MUST ALSO BE MADE.

TYPES OF STANDARD TESTS:

WHEEL LOAD VS TRAVEL

USING MAX TRAVEL DATA , THE SUSPENSION IS COMPRESSED AND WHEEL LOADS ARE MEASURED AT UP TO 25 POINTS THROUGH THE TRAVEL RANGE.  TYPICAL MEASUREMENTS ARE TAKEN EVERY 1/4" OF TRAVEL.

WHEEL POSITION VS TRAVEL

THIS TEST MAY BE RUN SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE WHEEL LOAD VS TRAVEL TEST.   IT MEASURES TOE (BUMP), CAMBER, CASTER, REAR STEER, CONTACT PATCH ALIGNMENT AND MORE.

CORNER (LAP) SIMULATION

USING BASIC DATA ACQUISITION, THE VEHICLE TRAVEL DATA IS USED TO CREATE A TEST SIMULATING UP TO 25 POINSTS.  THIS TEST MAY BE FOR A SMALL SECTION OF THE TRACK SUCH AS CORNER ENTRY OR FOR A FULL LAP.  ALL MEASUREMENTS MAY BE TAKEN AND GRAPHED SHOWING THE USER EXACT CAR STATES THROUGHOUT THE CORNER.

COMPONENT CHANGE

THIS TEST IS USED TO GRAPH THE DIFFERENCE(S) OF ANY SUSPENSION COMPONENT CHANGE.  A BASELINE TEST IS RUN VS TRAVEL OR VS WHEEL LOAD, THEN THE SUSPENSION COMPONENT IS CHANGED (THIS COULD EVEN BE A HOOK-UP POINT ADJUSTMENT) AND THE TEST IS RUN AGAIN. RESULTS ARE INPUT INTO DSS ANALYSIS SOFTWARE AND TESTS ARE GRAPHED.  UP TO 20 TESTS CAN BE PLOTTED ON THE SAME GRAPH.
